The 2016 Green Edge expeditions officially start today with the launching of the ice camp! A crew of 5 people from Takuvik, supported by Eric Brossier’s family has spent the last 10 days organizing the facilities to welcome researchers who will begin arriving TODAY .
The Takuvik Team has been testing the ice camp airboatby driving in icy conditions, in order to be prepared for the campaign. Before the ice melted in Quebec city, our team tested the boat a second time.
The Takuvik team recently completed Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA) training, in order to be prepared for the conditions of a remote ice camp located 30 km away from the Inuit community of Qikiqtarjuaq, where we are going to conduct our Green Edge Project research campaigns. Frostbite and hypothermia will be the main risks to be avoided.
