The Takuvik Team has been testing the ice camp airboatby driving in icy conditions, in order to be prepared for the campaign. Before the ice melted in Quebec city, our team tested the boat a second time.
The Takuvik team recently completed Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA) training, in order to be prepared for the conditions of a remote ice camp located 30 km away from the Inuit community of Qikiqtarjuaq, where we are going to conduct our Green Edge Project research campaigns. Frostbite and hypothermia will be the main risks to be avoided.
As a part of the Green Edge Project, we have established a solid connection with the Inuit community of Qikiqtarjuaq (Broughton Island), located on Baffin Island in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. With the aim of involving the communities in the initiative as well as approaching their way of life, we started learning the Inuktitut language.
